Subtronics is our Top Breakout Artist of 2019
Over the past two years, Your EDM has set itself the goal of highlighting some of the "breakout" artists of the year. The definition of a "breakout" artist is always a bit in flux, but first and foremost it is about improving a level in an artist's career. It could mean moving from opening slots to headlining or passing tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of streams, or becoming a viral sensation overnight and, above all, sticking to that virality.
No matter how you slice it Subtronics is undoubtedly a breakout artist of 2019. And while we've selected three artists to highlight in the last two years, we've been able to Imagine every artist in 2019 coming close to Subtronics.
Subtronics has been active in the scene since 2014 and released "Citadel" with Empire (Wa). From there he has released tracks and EPs on a number of labels such as Uplink Audio, Prime Audio and Blacklight Audio . It was not until 2016 that he developed his legendary Cyclops brand on the Cyclops EP. Most of his releases this year and 2017 were solo releases until he was finally selected in January 2018 for his Death Perception EP on Ganja White Nights SubCarbon .
From here began his rapid rise with a sequel EP on Disciple then another on NSD: Black Label then another on Cannibal . By the end of 2018, he was to collaborate with Space Jesus, Squnto, SVDDEN DEATH, and Boogie T, which made him a household name in Dubstep. But was he already an outbreak? Not quite.
2019 began a massive collaboration with Ganja White Night "Headband", followed by the debut EP on his own label Cyclops Recordings, Cyclops Army. He then collaborated with PhaseOne's debut album "Demon Hunter" as well as Rusko and Snails .
But it took until August before Subtronics finally broke through. Of course we are talking about "Griztronics" with Griz . The viral success of this song could not be predicted, catapulting subtronics outside the world of bass music into the world of TikTok . Finally, thanks to his versatile vocal sample, the track would make "Oh, that's a different story." Bring the first trend to the viral video platform and bring him his first Billboard Dance / Electronic Top 10 hit.
After that, it is – as they say – history. His last EP, Wooked On Tronics, has over 700,000 streams on Spotify and subsequently collaborated with Midnight Tyrannosaurus and Kayzo . And he has another with Zeds Dead on the way.
Next year, he'll be competing on his biggest ever headline tour, the Cyclops Invasion Tour. It includes 47 dates and most major venues in major cities of the country, including a headlineshow at Red Rocks, and is produced by HE $ H, Chee, Bommer, and Level Up [19459003begleitet] and these Dates are sold out. In this case, you can get tickets here .
