Kanye West’s Lawsuit with EMI Reopens After Events Fail To Settle

Kanye West continues to fight in court with EMI

At the beginning of the year, the hip-hop star sued his own publishing house and claimed that their demanding contracts affected "Servitude". A judge ruled that they should settle outside the court, but that didn't happen.

According to the TMZ, the request from EMI for the retrial was signed by the judge. Newly submitted documents on the case state: "Unfortunately, the parties were unable to conclude the terms of the settlement agreement."

The original contract from EMI states that West "must continue to be actively involved in the writing, recording and production of compositions and major label albums as your main occupation." retire or take a long break.

Kanye would like to cut EMI obligations from the 2010 mark, which would also give him rights to his music. These include the albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Watch the Throne, Yeezus and The Life of Pablo.
